Striking criticism from Özgür Özel on the 'missile crisis': A major disaster would have occurred if it hadn't been shot down by NATO

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel addressed the crowd gathered in Eyüpsultan for the CHP's second district rally. In his speech there, Özel made striking statements regarding the missile launched by Iran that fell into Turkey.

Missiles fired by Iran were neutralized as they were about to enter Turkish airspace. While shrapnel from the ballistic missile fell into the Dörtyol district of Hatay, statements were made regarding the matter by the Ministry of National Defense and the Directorate of Communications.

Özel also made notable remarks about the development during his rally in Eyüpsultan. Reminding that the missile was shot down by NATO, Özel pointed out that a major disaster could have occurred if this had not happened.

Özgür Özel used the following expressions:

You won't believe your ears when you hear it. Not a single fighter jet has been added to the Air Force in the last 14 years.

We have no air defense system.

If the missile heading toward Hatay today had not been shot down by NATO, a major disaster would have occurred.

The following statements were included in the statement made by the Directorate of Communications regarding the missile crisis:

"A missile launched from Iran, passing through Iraqi and Syrian airspace and heading toward our airspace from the Hatay region, was destroyed by NATO air defense systems. A piece of an interceptor missile fell into an open area in Hatay's Dörtyol district, and there was no loss of life or injury."
