Striking result from Metropoll's 'Would the AKP have come in first if a raise had been given to retirees?' survey!

Metropoll Research has announced the results of its survey asking, "Would the AKP have emerged as the leading party in the election if a raise had been given to retiree pensions?"

One of the fundamental reasons cited for the AKP's defeat in the March 31 Local Elections is the failure to provide an additional raise to retiree pensions.

Metropoll Research conducted a striking study regarding this interpretation.

In the survey, which was carried out between April 17-24 with a total of 2,235 people in 28 provinces, participants were asked the question: "Do you think the AK Party would have emerged as the leading party in the local elections if a raise had been given to retiree pensions?"

While 48.2 percent of those who participated in the survey said "Yes, it would have," 45.9 percent stated "No, it would not have." 5.9 percent said "I have no opinion/no answer."

The results in the survey were also analyzed by party. Accordingly, 66 percent of AKP supporters said "Yes." Among CHP supporters, 38.2 percent are of the opinion that "the raise would have changed the results."

While 62.7 percent of MHP voters think that the raise would have changed the results, this rate remained at 31.6 percent for the DEM Party.

Metropoll founder Özer Sencar shared the survey result in question with the note: "Those who make assertive statements about the future regarding neither the CHP's unexpectedly large victory nor the AKP's shocking defeat should be careful."
