STATEMENT FROM THE IZMIR GOVERNOR'S OFFICE

The Izmir Governor's Office issued a written statement regarding the incident. In the statement made by the Governor's Office concerning the posts and news reports in some media outlets and on social media titled 'Man who said I am disabled and have nowhere to go found dead,' it was stated that Kale had been placed in nursing and care centers since 2018, but remained on the street after refusing to stay.

GOVERNOR'S OFFICE: HE LEFT THE NURSING HOME OF HIS OWN ACCORD

The statement said, “A need has arisen to make a statement regarding the news reports titled ‘Man who said I am disabled and have nowhere to go found dead’ that appeared in some media outlets and social media platforms today. The citizen named Adnan Kale, born in 1966, who is the subject of the aforementioned news, is physically disabled and holds a partial disability health report. Due to his social and economic deprivation and being partially in need of care, Kale was placed in a nursing home several times starting from 2018, and while staying at a private care center in Izmir with the approval of the Governor's Office, he left the private care center of his own accord, just as he had done previously. Following reports that Adnan Kale had started living on the street in the Güven neighborhood of Buca, he was followed up again, and social investigation reports were prepared. Kale refused to stay in a nursing home; he stated to the assigned teams, the Güven Neighborhood Headman, and law enforcement officers multiple times that he did not want to go to a nursing home. On the morning of 14.12.2024, when assigned personnel went to the neighborhood where Kale was located to place him in a nursing home again, it was learned that he had passed away.”
