Strong northeasterly winds hinder fishing in Tekirdağ

Adverse weather conditions in the Sea of Marmara are negatively affecting those engaged in fishing in Tekirdağ. Fishermen in Süleymanpaşa are unable to set sail due to the northeasterly wind, spending their time performing boat maintenance and repairing their nets. Awaiting an improvement in weather conditions, the fishermen hope to return to safe fishing at sea.

Unable to set sail, fishermen are performing maintenance on their boats and repairing their nets at the Süleymanpaşa Fishery Shelter. Süleymanpaşa Fisheries Cooperative President İbrahim Pehlivanoğlu stated that the northeasterly wind has been blowing strongly for 2 days.

Stating that adverse weather conditions have disrupted fishing in recent weeks, Pehlivanoğlu said, "The impact of the northeasterly wind is negatively affecting fishermen. Fishermen who cannot set sail are performing net maintenance at the port. Everyone is waiting for the weather to return to normal. In the last month, fishing was only possible for nearly 10 days. Due to the wind, fishermen have often waited at the port. Fishermen will wait for the northeasterly wind to subside to avoid any trouble at sea."

Fisherman Önder Dedeler also expressed that they have been unable to set sail due to the ongoing downpour and strong winds in the region.

Stating that they will set sail to seek their fortune once the weather returns to normal, Dedeler expressed that they are making preparations with the hope of returning to the shore with plenty of fish.
