Student brought a handgun to school: Transparent bag measure implemented

It has emerged that a student at a middle school in Sincan, Ankara, brought a handgun to school for three days. While the weapon brought by the student was confiscated and an investigation was launched, the school administration requested that students use transparent bags instead of backpacks.

Following school attacks in Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa, another unsettling incident has come to light in Ankara.

According to a report in Sözcü, a 5th-grade male student at a middle school in the Andiçen neighborhood of Sincan, Ankara, allegedly brought a handgun, said to belong to his grandfather, to school for three days. 

Upon receiving reports from parents who noticed the situation, law enforcement officers were dispatched to the school. 

As part of the investigation, some members of the student's family were taken into custody.

"TRANSPARENT BAGS INSTEAD OF BACKPACKS"

Following the incident, the school administration implemented a set of rules for security reasons. Students were asked to come to school with transparent bags instead of backpacks. 

The number of police officers around the school has been increased. It was also learned that school administrators were summoned to provide statements.
