Student dies by suicide in Eskişehir

A university student who jumped from the 5th floor of the KYK dormitory where they were staying in Eskişehir has lost their life.

According to a report by Sol Portal, a student studying in Eskişehir and staying at a KYK dormitory died by suicide after jumping from the 5th floor.

EYEWITNESSES RECOUNT FINAL WORDS

S.N.R., a student in the Chemical Engineering department at Eskişehir Technical University who was staying at the Mükrime Hatun Girls' Dormitory affiliated with the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK), jumped from the 5th floor of the building in the evening hours. According to eyewitness accounts, S.N.R. was heard saying "If I don't jump, who will?" before throwing themselves into the void.

Despite being rushed to the hospital following initial intervention by medical teams, the student could not be saved.

NOT THE FIRST INCIDENT IN ESKİŞEHİR

21-year-old Resul Alan, a student at Eskişehir Anadolu University, had ended his life in the campus cafeteria last week.

In the note he left behind, Alan wrote, "Young people and children are committing suicide in Turkey every day and nothing changes. It isn't even reported anymore. ... I wish we didn't live in such a filthy society, I wish the country were in a better state," and concluded his letter with the Kurdish phrase "Li xwe baş binerin. Bi xatirâ we," which means "Take care of yourselves, goodbye."
