Students support Ekrem İmamoğlu: Police intervene!

Students in front of Istanbul University protested the cancellation of Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma and his detention.

The detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu as part of ongoing investigations has been met with public backlash. The demonstration organized by Istanbul University students in support of him was blocked by police intervention.

Since the morning hours, IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and many others have been taken into custody.

Yesterday evening, a statement from Istanbul University announced that İmamoğlu's diploma had been cancelled. Following this decision, İmamoğlu was taken into custody this morning as part of various investigations opened against him.
