Substance brought to school explodes: 10-year-old student loses finger
In the Gazipaşa district of Antalya, a serious injury occurred after an unknown substance carried in a primary school student's bag exploded.

In the incident at Ekmel Şehit Mesut Yılmaz Primary School in Gazipaşa's Ekmel neighborhood, 4th-grade student E.S. was playing with a substance in their bag during recess when an explosion occurred. As a result of this explosion, E.S.'s left pinky finger was severed.
Teachers who heard the sound of the explosion immediately notified medical teams. Upon arriving at the scene, the teams provided initial intervention and transported E.S. to Gazipaşa State Hospital. Following treatment there, the student was transferred to Isparta Eğirdir Bone and Joint Diseases Hospital.
INVESTIGATION INTO THE INCIDENT CONTINUES
Following the incident, law enforcement launched detailed investigations both at the school and the hospital. The District Directorate of National Education is also conducting an administrative investigation into the matter.
District Director of National Education Remzi Yetkin and branch managers visited the student at the hospital where they are receiving treatment. The school administration remained with the student at the hospital until the transfer procedures were completed.
Investigations by police teams are ongoing to determine what the substance that caused the explosion was.
