Successive earthquakes in the Aegean Sea

A 5.1-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Aegean Sea in the early hours of the morning. Following the tremor, which was felt in Muğla, İzmir, Aydın, Manisa, Balıkesir, and Çanakkale, four more aftershocks, the largest being 3.7, were recorded.

The Aegean Sea was shaken by a 5.1-magnitude earthquake that occurred in the early hours of the morning. According to information obtained from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the earthquake, which took place at 04:14, occurred at a depth of 7 kilometers.

The epicenter of the earthquake was determined to be 140.84 kilometers from the Bodrum district of Muğla and 250.36 kilometers from İzmir. The intense tremor was also felt in surrounding provinces such as Aydın, Manisa, Balıkesir, and Çanakkale.

Within two hours following the first major earthquake, four more aftershocks were recorded, the smallest of which was 3.7 in magnitude. Authorities warned citizens living in the region to be cautious against aftershocks.
