Suicide cases in the Israeli army reach record levels

A record increase in suicide cases has been observed in the genocidal Israeli army. It has been reported that 28 soldiers have taken their own lives since October 7, 2023, when the attacks on Gaza began. 

While the Israeli army announced that 21 of its soldiers committed suicide in 2024, this was recorded as the highest number in the last 13 years.

It was learned that of the 21 soldiers who committed suicide last year, 7 were privates, two were career soldiers, and 12 were reservists. 

According to Israeli army data, 17 soldiers committed suicide in 2023. Seven of these suicide cases occurred after October 7.

This number was announced as 14 in 2022, and 11 suicide cases were recorded in 2021.

Furthermore, the statement made by the Israeli army emphasized that thousands of Israeli soldiers have been withdrawn from the fields where they were participating in attacks due to mental distress since October 7, 2023.

It was stated that the increase in suicide cases is linked to the army calling up 300 thousand reservists to duty following the attacks Israel launched on Gaza.

The number of Israeli soldiers who died during the attacks carried out by Israel in the last two years was announced as 807, with 512 in 2023 and 295 last year.
