Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently in office, sent a message from his social media account regarding the CHP's boycott calls.
In his social media post, İmamoğlu used the following expressions:
I support the “BOYCOTT” call of our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel. I invite millions of our citizens to participate in the BOYCOTT process with discipline and dedication.
This BOYCOTT is not intended to destroy or harm our media and business world. On the contrary, it is aimed at freeing them from their shackles.
For many years, they have surrendered to a handful of ambitious people of the oppressive and anti-democratic government. They have been prone to arbitrary impositions and spreading hopelessness and fear to society. Some did this willingly, others out of fear. The times have changed. We will not expect different results by doing the same things.
It is time for the media and business world to make a choice; they will either continue on their path under the guidance of 1 person and see the harsh effects of the BOYCOTT, or they will align with the nation, just as we do.
I expect a strong reaction from all our citizens, and I trust in the common sense and resilience of our nation.
Genel Başkanımız Sayın Özgür Özel’in “BOYKOT” çağrısını destekliyorum.
