MESSAGE OF SUPPORT TO DORUK MADENCİLİK WORKERS
In his statement, Özel recalled the work carried out by the Independent Mining Workers' Union (Bağımsız Maden İş) regarding the rights violations experienced in Soma in the past, and stated that the union is fighting today for the workers employed at Doruk Madencilik.
Özel stated that approximately 160 workers at Doruk Madencilik are fighting to receive their rights.

Stating that Doruk Madencilik is a mine operated by Yıldızlar Holding, Özel claimed that the company is close to the government and benefits from various incentives.
Özel stated that the company holds 2,600 mining licenses and receives significant support from the state.

Drawing attention to the grievances experienced by the workers in his speech, Özel alleged that the company has not paid its employees for months.
Özel claimed that Doruk Madencilik owes a total of 160 million lira to the workers and stated that the employees have not received the wages they are entitled to.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Doruk Madencilik workers had resumed their protests after Yıldızlar SSS Holding failed to keep the promises it made before the ministry.
Doruk Madencilik workers, who began their struggle on April 12, 2026, for their unpaid wages, overtime pay, and severance rights, ended their protests on April 28, 2026, due to the intervention of 3 ministries and the promise of payment made by Yıldızlar SSS Holding.
It was decided in the agreement articles that all payments would be made by May 15, 2026. However, according to the latest information obtained from the workers, the holding had only paid a portion of the money it was supposed to pay. Upon this, the Independent Mining Workers' Union and the workers announced that they would begin their resistance again on June 1.
