Supreme Court presidential election remains inconclusive after 33rd round
No candidate received enough votes to be elected in the 32nd round of the Supreme Court presidential election, leading to a 33rd round. The 33rd round also failed to produce a result. Voting will continue tomorrow.

Supreme Court President Mehmet Akarca's four-year term has expired, and no candidate was able to secure the necessary votes to be elected in the 33rd round of the presidential election.
Akarca, who was elected as Supreme Court President on March 24, 2020, completed his four-year term as of March 24.
In this context, Supreme Court members went to the polls on Monday, March 25, to determine the new president who will serve for the next four years.
Because no candidate was able to secure the absolute majority of at least 175 votes out of 348 Supreme Court members in the first 32 rounds of the election, a 33rd round of voting was held.
As a result of the vote, Akarca received 90 votes, 3rd Civil Chamber President Ömer Kerkez received 119, and 3rd Criminal Chamber President Muhsin Şentürk received 105. Voter turnout was recorded at 317, with 3 votes deemed invalid.
Due to the failure to reach an absolute majority, the election will continue tomorrow with the 34th round of voting.
An absolute majority of the total number of members is required to be present for the elections.
