The winds of change that began in the CHP with Özgür Özel winning the chairmanship at the congress held in November are now blowing in Muğla.

The CHP is preparing to field a surprise mayoral candidate who could be the face of change, merit, and clean politics in Muğla.

The name of 12punto writer and co-founder Tuncay Mollaveisoğlu is coming to the fore in the corridors.

Metropolitan Mayor Osman Gürün has been governing Muğla for 25 years. Gürün had decided not to run again in the local elections to be held on March 31, leaving his place to new candidates.

Following Gürün's decision, who the CHP would nominate in an important city like Muğla was a matter of curiosity.

11 names have announced their candidacy for the metropolitan mayoralty in Muğla. However, the CHP administration is inclined to turn toward a surprise candidate in Muğla.

In this context, the name of Tuncay Mollaveisoğlu has come to the fore.

Mollaveisoğlu, who has been living in Muğla with his family for many years, is known for his great efforts to protect Muğla through his news reports, articles, and TV programs, covering everything from forest fires to zoning scandals, and from coastal looting to environmental destruction.

Mollaveisoğlu, who served as chief advisor at the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality in his first years after moving to Muğla, was a close colleague of the current mayor, Osman Gürün.

Tuncay Mollaveisoğlu, who has been a journalist for approximately 25 years, has worked as a reporter, editor, news director, presenter, commentator, columnist, program producer, and editor-in-chief in various newspapers and television stations.

Mollaveisoğlu, who has three published books, previously served as the editor-in-chief of Cumhuriyet newspaper.

Mollaveisoğlu, who left Cumhuriyet newspaper due to a decision based on his commitment to journalistic ethical values, took part in the establishment of the website 12punto.com.tr with journalist friends he has worked with for years.
