'Suspended meal' era in universities: One in five meals free

Dicle University, located in Diyarbakır, is taking an important step for students with financial difficulties by launching a "suspended meal" program. 

As one of the largest educational institutions in the Southeast, the university will enable students to receive meals even if they do not have sufficient balance on their cafeteria cards through this initiative.

Dicle University Secretary General Mustafa Uğurluaslan stated in a statement to CEGA Medya that they noticed some students were forced to leave the cafeterias because they did not have enough balance. 

Uğurluaslan announced that they would implement the "suspended meal" project to solve this problem. Within the scope of the project, students experiencing financial hardship will be able to receive free meals from the cafeterias.

DIGITALIZATION STEPS ARE ALSO BEING TAKEN

The university is also accelerating its digitalization efforts across the campus. Uğurluaslan stated that they have developed a digital system so that meals can be purchased in cafeterias without waiting in line or carrying cash. 

Thanks to this system, students will be able to benefit from the service by selecting their meals and making payments easily via their smartphones.

ONE IN EVERY FIVE MEALS IS FREE 

Secretary General Uğurluaslan also announced that, in addition to this, one in every five meals will be free, and together with the suspended meal program, students experiencing financial hardship will be able to continue to easily benefit from the cafeteria services on campus.
