Suspicious death in Sarıyer, Istanbul: 12-year-old child falls from 30th floor and dies

A 12-year-old child has lost his life in an incident that occurred in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul. The event, which took place at a residential complex in the Ayazağa neighborhood, caused panic in the surrounding area during the night hours.
THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AT NIGHT
According to the information obtained, the incident took place on Sunday, February 1, at approximately 23:00 in a residential complex in the Ayazağa neighborhood. 7th-grade student Fikret Ömer Akıncı went out onto the balcony of the apartment located on the 30th floor of the building where he lived with his family.
A short while later, for reasons yet to be determined, Akıncı fell from the balcony.
BYSTANDERS REPORTED THE INCIDENT
Residents of the complex who noticed the child falling notified emergency medical teams. Upon arriving at the scene, the teams determined during their checks that Fikret Ömer Akıncı had passed away.
MOTHER GAVE A STATEMENT
Following the incident, police teams initiated an investigation. The mother, Elif Akıncı (45), who was at home at the time, stated in her testimony at the police station that her child had leaned over the balcony located in the kitchen area of the house and fell while doing so.
It was learned that the mother also stated in her testimony that her child did not have any health problems.
After the completion of the work by the Public Prosecutor and the crime scene investigation teams, the lifeless body of Fikret Ömer Akıncı was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute Morgue by a funeral vehicle.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
The prosecutor's office has classified the incident as a "suspicious death." It was reported that a comprehensive investigation into the matter has been launched.
