High waves caused by strong winds affecting the entire Ordu region and the risk of rip currents have prompted authorities to take action. According to the official statement issued by the Governor's Office, swimming is prohibited on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, in order to protect the safety of citizens.
The Governor's Office announcement stated that, upon the recommendation of the Commission for the Prevention of Drowning Incidents, the ban will apply to all beaches across the city. Officials emphasized that rip currents pose a life-threatening danger and urged citizens to strictly comply with both the ban and the warnings of law enforcement officers.
The statement, signed by Ordu Governor Muammer Erol, included the following: "This measure has been deemed necessary to prevent potential drowning incidents and to ensure the safety of our public." It was reported that relevant institutions will continue to conduct inspections on the beaches without interruption to ensure the implementation proceeds smoothly.
