Swine flu has re-emerged!

It causes coughing, fatigue, high fever, blocks the sinuses, and produces constant mucus… The UK is on edge due to a new virus that is far worse than a typical cold. Patients who contract the virus are unable to get out of bed for weeks while waiting to recover.

The British, who have been visiting healthcare facilities with these symptoms for weeks, were seeking a cure for this long-lasting illness, which differs from Covid symptoms.

The government made its first statement about the virus today. The virus has been recorded as a new swine flu virus.

After a person living in North Yorkshire visited a healthcare facility due to breathing difficulties, test results confirmed that the virus was transmitted by humans.

Scientists stated that it is not yet known how contagious this new strain, called H1N2, is or whether there might be other cases in the United Kingdom.

This variant is different from the H1N1 (swine flu) strain that led to the 2009 pandemic, which saw 457 deaths in the United Kingdom alone.

Since 2005, a total of 50 human cases of H1N2 have been reported worldwide; however, none are genetically related to this emerging strain.

Meera Chand, director of the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), stated, “This is the first time we have detected this virus in humans in the United Kingdom, but it is very similar to viruses detected in pigs. We are working rapidly to trace close contacts and reduce potential spread.”

It is unknown whether the newly detected virus is related to the outbreak that has been ongoing for weeks. However, statements from those who have been ill in recent weeks, speaking to the British press, have raised concerns about a new epidemic.

The virus has symptoms such as fever, headache, nasal congestion, cough, and fatigue. One person who was only able to overcome the illness after 3 weeks revealed the alarming nature of the virus, saying, “My sinuses were almost completely blocked. I could only breathe comfortably for short periods, but at the same time, I produced a terrifying amount of mucus.”

Another patient who spoke to the press said, “I couldn't get out of bed for days, and then I couldn't leave the house for a week. I think this is a Covid-19 variant that cannot be detected in tests. It was worse than any gastroenteritis I had before 2020.”

The latest report from the UK's National Health Service (NHS) stated that a total of 11.7 million people in England had received a flu vaccine and 8.6 million had received a Covid-19 booster by 2023, but millions more in vulnerable groups remain at risk.
