Syria holds Israel responsible for attack on Golan Heights

Syria has held Israel responsible for the attack in Majdal Shams, located in the Golan Heights, which resulted in the deaths of at least 12 people.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "As part of its efforts to escalate the situation in our region and expand its aggression, the Israeli occupation force committed a brutal crime yesterday (Saturday) in the Syrian city of Majdal Shams, which has been under occupation since 1967, and then shifted the responsibility for this crime onto the Lebanese resistance, Hezbollah."

The statement further added, "As the Syrian Arab Republic, we condemn the massacres that the Israeli occupation force commits one after another every day. We hold Israel fully responsible for this escalation and strongly reject its attempts to exacerbate the dangerous situation in the region."

Syria stated that the people in the occupied Golan Heights have not abandoned their Arab-Syrian identity despite years of Israeli occupation and will not be deceived by such lies. It also included the expression, "Our people in the Golan will continue to be an integral part of the resistance against the occupier and its aggressive policies."

MUTUAL ACCUSATIONS BETWEEN ISRAEL AND HEZBOLLAH

Following the incident, Israeli Army Spokesperson Avichay Adraee said, "Field indicators show that Hezbollah fired a Falaq-1 type rocket at the Majdal Shams area." Adraee stated, "There is no other terrorist organization in Lebanon that possesses such rockets. Hezbollah is responsible for the massacre in Majdal Shams and for the children and teenagers who died on the football field."

In response, Hezbollah denied the attack, stating, "We categorically reject the allegations made by some enemy media outlets and various media platforms regarding our targeting of Majdal Shams. We have no connection to the incident whatsoever."
