While the investigation into the CHP's 38th Ordinary Convention, held on November 20, 2023, continues, the party's former leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had drawn attention with a post he made on social media.
In a statement shared on his X account, Kılıçdaroğlu used the phrase, "Our silence is not a lack of words, but a sense of responsibility..." and stated that he had received threats against his life.
While striking messages regarding the political agenda have been coming from the Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu camp, a notable statement regarding the process also came from Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan.
Emphasizing that he has been a member of the CHP for years, Özcan announced that he would leave the CHP if Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu were to return to the party leadership via a court order.
Tanju Özcan used the following expressions:
"I am an individual who registered with the CHP in 1995 at the age of 22. I have been elected 6 times in a row.
Do not confuse me with those who joined the party later!
I am not a former nationalist (ülkücü), a folk singer, or anything of the sort! The Six Arrows are my philosophy of life! I am a Turkish Nationalist, a secular, revolutionary, populist, and of course, a Republican citizen who loves his State very much!
When the time comes, I will show both friend and foe how to fight against RTE and his cronies!
If KK returns to the head of the CHP again by court order, I will bid farewell to my party of 30 years!!!"
