The reasoned decision for the sentence given to Delil Aysal, who murdered taxi driver Oğuz Erge in İzmir and was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment, has been released by the court panel.

The reasoned decision, which details the murder, spans 16 pages. It was reported that the weapon used during the incident was found in the attic of the bathroom in the defendant's home, and the empty shell casings that Delil Aysal had taken from the taxi were found in a trash can in the kitchen.

All details, including the indictment, the prosecutor's opinion, the defendant's statement, the conversations between the defendant and the victim, witness testimonies, and the autopsy report, were added to the reasoned decision.

"FIRING WITH THE INTENT TO KILL..."

The reasoned decision, which noted that the primary purpose of the shooting was to take the victim's mobile phone and headphones located inside the vehicle, included the following statements:

In the court panel's ruling, attention was drawn to the fact that Aysal had concealed his face with a mask from the beginning, covered his head with a hood, loaded 3 bullets into the magazine of the unlicensed pistol he was carrying, and fired with the "intent to kill" to facilitate the crime of robbery, aiming at Erge's back.

The reasoned decision also stated that the weapon used in the incident was found in the attic of the bathroom in the defendant's home, and the empty shell casings that Delil Aysal had taken from the taxi were found in a trash can in the kitchen.

"THE DEFENDANT'S STATEMENTS WERE NOT CREDITED"

"The video and audio recordings that emerged after this incident require the acceptance that the defendant acted with the intent to commit the crime of robbery from the very beginning of the event; furthermore, the defendant's statements aimed at escaping punishment were not credited.

Knowing that the goal in the trial is not absolute reality, but material reality with the hope of getting as close to absolute reality as possible, it was understood that conducting further investigation would not affect the merits of the case nor would it be in accordance with judicial economy, and no further investigation was conducted.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the incident that occurred in the Gaziemir district on January 31, 2024, taxi driver Oğuz Erge (44) was shot 3 times and killed by his passenger, Delil Aysal (19), whom he had picked up so he would not be cold.
