Taxis are becoming safer! Panic button and camera system are being activated
Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek has announced that vehicle tracking and camera systems with panic buttons will be installed in taxis in Antalya free of charge. The implementation will increase security measures, ensuring a safer transportation experience for both drivers and passengers.

Mayor Böcek and the President of the Antalya Chamber of Drivers and Automobile Merchants, Mehmet Ali Alkan, met with members of the press at a meeting held at the municipal building to introduce the implementation.
Stating that the tourism city of Antalya hosts approximately 27 million domestic and foreign guests annually, Böcek emphasized that taxi drivers are among the most important tourism ambassadors.
Recalling his promise of a city where both the carrier and the passenger are satisfied, Böcek stated that they have been working meticulously for a long time to increase security measures within this scope.
'IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, IT WILL BE TRANSMITTED TO OUR CENTER AND SECURITY UNITS'
Mayor Böcek noted that they have implemented a new application for taxis within this scope and continued as follows:
"Within the scope of the cooperation protocol we have made with the Antalya Chamber of Drivers and Automobile Merchants, and based on the circular of our Ministry of Interior on the subject, we are ensuring that vehicle tracking and camera system devices with panic buttons are installed free of charge in our 6,615 taxis operating in our city. Thanks to the project, taxis will be tracked electronically at the monitoring center, at taxi stands, and at the Chamber of Drivers. In cooperation with our Chamber of Drivers and our Police Department, any emergency situation occurring inside the vehicle will be instantly transmitted to our center and security units."
Mehmet Ali Alkan stated that the first devices and panic buttons have started to be installed in taxis.
Stating that camera footage, which will be stored in the vehicles for 30 days, can be used as evidence in judicial incidents, Alkan said, "We have completed our infrastructure work that will allow our health, fire department, and law enforcement units to intervene in incidents rapidly in case the panic buttons installed in our vehicles are used. Our taxis are now gaining equipment that will allow our passengers and drivers to travel more safely."
