The General Directorate of Tea Enterprises (ÇAYKUR) has implemented the first price hike of the year for dry tea. Citing the increased purchase price of fresh tea, labor costs, and operating expenses, the institution applied a 15 percent increase to dry tea.

The increased prices began to be reflected on market shelves as of June 14. However, no official statement has yet been released by ÇAYKUR regarding the matter. According to Bloomberg HT agriculture writer İrfan Donat, officials confirmed the price increase and the effective date.

With this latest price adjustment, dry tea prices have been increased for the first time in 2024. The previous hike was implemented in September 2023, with the rate set at 18 percent.

The new price increase decision follows the rise in fresh tea prices, the increase in production and energy costs, and the general rise in labor expenses.
