Teacher shot dead in schoolyard in Osmaniye! Eyewitnesses speak out

Mehmet Bilgili, a literature teacher at Farabi Anatolian High School in the Çardak village of central Osmaniye, has lost his life in an armed attack that took place at the school.

According to initial reports, Bilgili was shot by an individual identified as his nephew, A.B. Following the sound of gunfire, police and medical teams were dispatched to the school. Medical personnel confirmed that Mehmet Bilgili had passed away.

Citizens who were in the vicinity of the school during the incident stated that they rushed to the area as soon as they heard the gunshots. Local shopkeeper Murat Özer described the panic, saying, "I am a shopkeeper; I heard gunfire while I was at my workplace. I ran to the school, a teacher had been shot. Such an incident occurred. Everyone at the school was in a panic."

Özcan Özkan, who stated that he had come to pick up his son, expressed his desire for an end to armed incidents in schools. Özkan said, "My son attends the school behind Farabi High School. We want these incidents to end now. We are afraid when we send our children to school. Authorities are taking measures, but more serious precautions need to be taken."

Following the attack, there was a heavy presence around the school as teams continued their work at the scene.
