A technical glitch occurred during maintenance work on the M7 Yıldız–Mahmutbey Metro Line, one of Istanbul's key public transport routes. A train malfunction during repairs—which were being conducted due to groundwater leakage in the metro tunnel and ground damage detected in the switch area—caused disruptions to services.

Due to the failure, passengers were left waiting inside the train for approximately 15 minutes. During this time, the crowds gathering at the stations continued to grow. The train, once it was able to move, could only proceed as far as the Nurtepe station, where passengers were offloaded from the carriages.

Citizens were directed to free shuttle buses deployed by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality to continue toward Mecidiyeköy. However, due to the service disruptions, queues stretching for meters formed at turnstiles and bus stops. Many passengers expressed their frustration, stating that they were inconvenienced by delays to their work and appointments.

While passengers were evacuated after a short wait, it was noted that maintenance work is ongoing and that intermittent disruptions to services may continue.
