Stating that the fire was initially responded to with 11 vehicles belonging to the General Directorate of Forestry, Governor Soytürk said, "We responded to the fire with a total of 104 vehicles from surrounding provinces and districts. However, the harsh windy weather and the wind changing direction from time to time caused the fire to spread."

Stating that an evacuation decision was made in some villages as the fire threatened residential areas, Governor Soytürk said, "We first evacuated Kocaali Village, then Senköy. An evacuation decision was also made for Kızılcaterzi village as a precaution against the fire. Aerial vehicles paused their operations during the night hours."

Expressing that the measures taken against the fire are continuing, Governor Soytürk stated, "Reinforcement riot control vehicles (TOMA) from surrounding provinces and districts, especially Edirne, have been dispatched to the region. These vehicles will have an important role, especially in protecting the villages from the fire."

Finally, Governor Soytürk stated that they received information that the fire had crossed into the Çanakkale border and said, "Information also came that there is a fire in the Ayvacık district of Çanakkale. Our Çanakkale Governorship is responding to both fires."
