The terrorist organization PKK has announced the names of 53 more of its members who died in different regions and on different dates in past years. With this latest statement, the number of members whose deaths the organization has announced in mass in just a few days has exceeded 100.
The announcements have come to the agenda alongside assessments that the PKK is updating its list regarding members who previously appeared as alive in records but are stated to have died years ago. It is stated that these mass announcements are linked to the clarification of organizational records ahead of applications that are expected to begin within the scope of the framework law.
On August 22, a mass announcement was also made for 49 PKK members, some of whom had died more than a decade ago. A condolence tent was set up for these individuals at Koşuyolu Park in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır, and it was reported that some of the families were only informed of their relatives' deaths years later.
A person who attended the condolences stated that they saw the announcement of these deaths during this period as linked to the framework law process, noting that the status of individuals appearing as alive in organizational records needed to be clarified before the applications.
