While the terrorist organization PKK decided to lay down arms and disband on May 12 during the new reconciliation process, of which MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli is the architect, developments in Syria during this period have drawn attention.
As consecutive statements continue to be made regarding Bahçeli's proposal to establish a commission in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the PKK organized workshops in two separate cities at the request of terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Meetings were held in Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) and Qamishli under the slogan “Building a democratic, pluralistic, and decentralized Syria.”
According to the report by Özgür Cebe from Sözcü, the importance of establishing a parliament and a constitutional court for a new constitution was emphasized at these meetings held under the leadership of the PYD. Participants were presented with appreciation plaques featuring the photo of terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan. Velid Halil, who is among the so-called leadership cadre of the terrorist organization PKK and is wanted with a red notice, was also present at the workshop in Qamishli. Ilham Ahmed, who delivered the opening speech of the workshop, is also among those wanted in the red category.
Simultaneously with these workshops, an association named “Syria Initiative for Freedom for Leader Abdullah Öcalan” was established in Ayn al-Arab, and a branch was opened in Tabqa. The crowd gathered there chanted slogans for the release of Öcalan and marched with his posters.
