During the event, alongside broadcasts by media outlets close to the terrorist organization, claims that the PKK had disbanded and withdrawn from Turkey were also brought to the agenda.

According to a report by Cumhuriyet, the celebration organized by the separatist terrorist organization PKK at the Makhmur Refugee Camp became a subject of controversy, particularly for targeting children under the age of 18. During the event, torches were handed to children referred to as "preparatory school students."
These children participated in the event by performing a choreography that combined the year 1978, when the PKK was founded, with the "infinity symbol (∞)".
