Ferhad Shami, spokesperson for the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces), the Syrian branch of the terrorist organization PKK/KCK, made notable remarks during a television program he attended. Stating, "laying down arms is a red line for us; we will never compromise on our principles," Shami declared that they would not disarm.
Reminding that the Rojava-based terrorist organization operates in northeastern Syria, Shami emphasized that the organization is "conducting negotiations on equal terms" with the Damascus administration. Using the words, "We are neither dependent nor submissive," he expressed that they are not affiliated with the central government and act independently.
The most striking point among Shami's statements was what he said regarding the US Special Envoy for Syria and Ambassador to Turkey, Tom Barrack.
Shami revealed that they are in contact with Washington, stating, "Tom Barrack requested our help for the resolution of the Suwayda crisis."
On the other hand, it is known that Druze spiritual leader Sheikh Hikmat al-Hijri had requested the opening of a "humanitarian corridor" from the SDF, and that the organization responded positively to this call.
