Bendevi Palandöken, President of the Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESK), issued a written statement expressing that it is highly necessary to establish weight standards that all brands must comply with, especially for products such as food, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items.

Palandöken noted that the weight of many packaged products is being reduced while prices are increased, effectively resulting in a double price hike on the product.

Palandöken reported that weight manipulation, used to create the perception of a cheaper price, confuses consumers and eliminates the ability to compare the same products across different brands.

Reminding that the Ministry of Trade has issued fines to numerous companies regarding weight manipulation, Palandöken stated, "The solution to the problem is not to issue fines, but to introduce weight standards for certain products that all brands must follow."

Palandöken also called on citizens to call the "Alo 175 Consumer Consultation Line" when they encounter fraudulent products or are subjected to unfair practices.
