A new development has occurred in the fake diploma investigation launched against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. It had previously been reported that IMM Mayor İmamoğlu would provide testimony on February 26. However, İmamoğlu submitted a petition of excuse. The new testimony date has been set for March 5. İmamoğlu's lawyers also announced that they will hold a press conference today regarding the allegations.

An investigation was launched against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is entering the primary election where the CHP will determine its presidential candidate on March 23 as the sole candidate, following reports that his undergraduate diploma was fake and in line with reports prepared by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

It had been reported that İmamoğlu would provide testimony at the prosecutor's office on February 26 as part of the investigation. The date for İmamoğlu to provide testimony, who submitted an excuse due to public duty on that date, has been postponed to March 5.

On the other hand, it was stated that the lawyers of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu will hold a press conference today at 11:00 to respond to the allegations.
