In the incident that took place 3 days ago in Etimesgut, 16-year-old high school freshman Kayra Ataman allegedly argued with Burak E., who had made remarks to his friend, and was stabbed in the heart and killed by Burak E.'s 17-year-old son, T.E.E.
While Ataman's funeral was laid to rest at Karşıyaka Cemetery, the detained T.E.E. and his father Burak E. were referred to the courthouse following their procedures at the police station and were sent to prison in accordance with the decision for their detention pending trial.
On the other hand, the testimonies given by the suspect father and son have emerged. In his statement, where he indicated that his intention was not to kill Ataman, suspect T.E.E. claimed, "I had seen my ex-girlfriend with Kayra; when I went home, I was upset. Later, when my father saw my state, he asked why I was like this. Then my father went down to the park. However, he had a scuffle with Kayra there. When he came home, his clothes were disheveled and his face was scratched. Then I took a bread knife from the house. I went to the park. I asked who had beaten my father: Kayra insulted my father and me. He started running towards me. At that moment, I was standing still; I stabbed him to protect myself. My intention was to stab him in the leg."
