That figure resigned from their party after the Imralı decision! 'Avoiding taking responsibility...'

Abdurrahim Aksoy, a founder of the DEVA Party and a 22nd-term Member of Parliament for Bitlis, has resigned in protest of his party's decision regarding participation in the Imralı delegation.

The commission established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) for the resolution process granted authorization for a visit to Imralı with 32 votes. While the AKP, MHP, DEM Party, TİP, and EMEP voted in favor of going to Imralı, the DSP, HÜDAPAR, and the Democrat Party voted against it. The New Path Group (DEVA, GELECEK, and SAADET) abstained. The CHP and YRP did not participate in the vote. 

Abdurrahim Aksoy, one of the founders of the DEVA Party, announced his resignation, claiming that his party was avoiding responsibility.


Aksoy's statement is as follows:

"The decision of the DEVA Party, of which I am a founder and member, not to participate in the Imralı delegation has revealed an attitude that avoids taking responsibility in the resolution of the Kurdish issue.

Despite appearing to accept the fundamental rights of the Kurdish people, its avoidance of this responsibility when it comes time to take it; its failure to provide members to the commission, and even its act of slipping away by not participating in the commission, displaying a cowardly and timid behavior; and its drift into a 'Pollyannaish' attitude instead of producing solutions, has resulted in it positioning itself not as a problem-solver for any side, but rather on the status quo-oriented line of classical politics that avoids taking risks.

At this historic turning point, which is of vital importance for the Kurdish people, a democratic political stance could not be demonstrated; responsibility for a solution was not assumed. For this reason, I respectfully inform the public that I have terminated my membership in the DEVA Party as of today."
