The 5th meeting of the Process Commission has concluded

But unfortunately, we know that the issue of meeting with Abdullah Öcalan, who has made a serious effort to end the violence of the conflict, is not on the commission's agenda. According to information reflected in the press, the security bureaucracy was heard in the second meeting," he said.

Kaya Kartal, Chairman of the Association for Human Rights and Solidarity for the Oppressed (Mazlum-Der), stated that the success of the process depends on setting aside certain preconceptions and on sincere courage, saying, "It is necessary to support the steps taken towards a solution in terms of presenting legislative approval effects to the end. Producing mechanisms and ideas that will prevent a return to arms or the shedding of blood, and maintaining a constructive attitude, is a fundamental responsibility we all have towards these lands and the people of this country."

Mahsun Batı, President of the Tahir Elçi Human Rights Foundation, recalled the day Tahir Elçi was killed, stating, "Tahir Elçi was the only person shot on a street where nearly 35 people, including 26 police officers, were present. The evidence was left on the street without a crime scene investigation being conducted. About five months after the murder, there was a crime scene reconstruction by the prosecutor's office, followed immediately by an expert report prepared one day later. A report was issued stating that it was medically and physically impossible to determine the shot that caused Tahir Elçi's death. In fact, this report clearly revealed what was intended to be done at that time," he said.
