The activist Pikachu discussed by news channels and the world speaks out: 'To ease the tension'

Appearing before cameras with CHP Antalya Deputy Aykut Kaya, the activist Pikachu explained why they made such a choice.

Following the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, an activist dressed as Pikachu had drawn attention during the ongoing protests.

Those images also received extensive coverage in the world press. CHP Antalya Deputy Aykut Kaya shared a video with Pikachu.

FIRST STATEMENT

In their first statement after appearing before the cameras, the activist Pikachu said the following:

"I thought of this idea because of the tense events happening in our country recently. I came to show support in order to ease the tension of my friends a little bit. If I could bring even a small smile to the faces of our citizens, how happy I am."

CHP's Kaya thanked Pikachu, saying, "It's good that you exist, Pikachu."
