The Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK), a legacy of Atatürk, has been mired in debt under the management of trustees. While aircraft and helicopters were being sold off, 2,000 people close to the committee were hired by the institution. The board of trustees raised their own salaries by 200 percent, while the THK has not held a general assembly in 5 years.

The Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK), founded by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, is 100 years old today. However, the institution has been managed by trustees for 5 years. Many of the institution's revenue streams were cut off before the trustees were appointed to the institution, which is now run by AKP-affiliated trustees. In addition to government pressure, mismanagement has left the institution mired in debt. Following these developments, trustees were appointed to the institution.
According to the report by İsmail Arı, while the committee, which claimed it would put the institution back on track, sold off the institution's aircraft and helicopters, it filled the institution with people close to the committee. The trustees, who have not taken the institution to a general assembly in 5 years, have hired approximately 2,000 people in just 5 years:

THEY RAISED THEIR OWN SALARIES BY 200 PERCENT
A decision was made to increase the monthly salaries of the 5-member board of trustees. The trustees, three of whom work in the public sector and receive double salaries, were being paid 10,000 TL per month for their duties at the THK. Recently, a 200 percent raise was applied to the trustees' monthly salaries, and it was decided that they would receive 30,000 TL per month.
WHO IS ON THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES?
The 5-member THK Board of Trustees is chaired by Kemal Yurtnaç, who serves as the Chief Civil Inspector of the Ministry of Interior. Yurtnaç had been a parliamentary candidate nominee from the AKP in 2015 while serving as a governor, but was not nominated.
