Following the explosion that occurred last night in a six-story apartment building in the Hıdırağa neighborhood of Çorlu, Tekirdağ, the extent of the damage became clearer during daylight hours. While the apartment where the explosion took place on the upper floor suffered massive destruction, the building's exterior facade completely collapsed. Due to the force of the blast, concrete blocks, window frames, and household items were seen scattered meters away from the building.
The explosion caused damage not only to the apartment building itself but also to several vehicles parked in the vicinity. The severe damage to the front facade of the building was notable. While security measures were taken at the scene, the apartment where the explosion occurred was reduced to ruins and rendered unusable.
One person, identified as 34-year-old Caner Meriç, lost his life at the scene. A Syrian national, Muhammed El Hüseyin, who was severely injured, could not be saved despite all medical interventions at Çorlu State Hospital. Additionally, one injured person continues to receive treatment at the hospital, while another has been discharged.
Technical investigations into the exact cause of the explosion are ongoing. Security teams continue to maintain control in the area.
