The early election debates that began following the March 31 Local Elections continue. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who has stated "If there is no livelihood, there is an election," said in his latest statement on the matter, "If an early election is called within the last year, the CHP will not sign off on an early election decision."

Nefes newspaper columnist Nuray Babacan argued that this statement by Özel disrupted the AKP's election strategy.

Stating that plans are being made between the government and the opposition to 'go to an early election at the most advantageous time,' Babacan expressed that AKP staff are planning not an 'early election' but a 'brought-forward election' so that the economic crisis can be resolved, the results of the economic decisions taken can be seen, and developments in Syria can provide them with an advantage.

Babacan wrote about what is being discussed in the AKP corridors, saying, "The AKP has two options ahead of it. They will go to the election either 'without Erdoğan' or 'without the economy.' They are looking for options that will make them advantageous to get rid of these two sharp situations."

"Holding the elections on time in 2028 means that Tayyip Erdoğan cannot be a candidate. Since there is no hope of amending the Constitution, this is an inevitable end.
