Following the decline in expectations for an extraordinary convention within the CHP, the possibility of establishing a new political party has begun to be discussed again within the party. According to a report by Cumhuriyet, some provincial chairs who support CHP Chairman Özgür Özel state that in their meetings with members, young people in particular are more positively inclined toward a new political formation.
YOUNG MEMBERS FAVOR A FRESH START
According to the assessments shared by the provincial chairs, young members want the uncertainty within the party to end. It is noted that a similar approach is also seen among some members in the 45-55 age group.
The chairs state that young people express the view, "Let's leave the seats and the buildings to them, and let's go our own way," advocating for a fresh start rather than waiting for the process within the party to drag on.
OLDER AGE GROUP TENDS TO STAY IN THE CHP
The provincial chairs note that members aged 55 and over feel a stronger sense of belonging to the CHP. It is reported that this segment acts with the mindset, "The CHP is our party, how could we leave here?"
Furthermore, it is stated that some members, despite their criticisms of the current leadership, wish to continue their political activities under the umbrella of the CHP.
