The holiday is ending: Gradual congestion begins on the road back to Istanbul
With the end of the holiday, the return journey from hometowns has begun. Congestion is being experienced at entry and exit points to Istanbul and on the bridges. While traffic on the Tekirdağ-Istanbul route has reached a standstill, police and gendarmerie teams have intensified inspections.

Citizens who spent the Eid al-Adha holiday in their hometowns or at vacation spots have begun their return journey. Traffic congestion has formed on highways leading to Istanbul, particularly at the Yenice, Yeniçiftlik, Beyazköy, and Marmaraereğlisi points on the Tekirdağ-Istanbul route.
On the Anatolian Motorway and the D-100 highway, vehicle traffic, which moved slowly at times, caused drivers to lose extra time. While a smooth flow was only possible in the early morning hours, congestion that came to a standstill at times was observed throughout the day.
Police and gendarmerie teams are trying to maintain order by warning drivers, especially regarding excessive speed, following distance, and improper overtaking. Additional measures have been taken on coastal roads and highway entrances to ease the flow of traffic.
According to IMM traffic map data, while urban congestion was measured at around 6 percent in the morning hours of the holiday, it rose to 17 percent as the day progressed.
