The judge had left the courtroom: Dilek İmamoğlu recounted what happened at the hearing

At the first hearing of the IMM case held in Silivri, the detained and non-detained defendants were taken into the courtroom one by one. Upon the commotion that occurred when Ekrem İmamoğlu entered the courtroom, strict warnings were issued by the presiding judge, and subsequently, it was decided to clear the courtroom following the noise that erupted.

As the presiding judge left the courtroom, İmamoğlu addressed the judge, saying, "You did not come here to conduct a trial. You cannot leave by running away from here."

İmamoğlu's wife, Dilek İmamoğlu, described the tension in the courtroom during a live broadcast.

Speaking on Sözcü TV, Dilek İmamoğlu stated that the presiding judge had not provided prior information to the lawyers regarding the trial procedure and that Ekrem İmamoğlu had requested permission to make a short speech, but the judge did not allow it. Stating that the court panel cleared the courtroom following the reactions from the audience, Dilek İmamoğlu reported that the families and spectators continued to wait outside with great care.

Dilek İmamoğlu's statements were as follows:

"The detained defendants began to arrive one by one. Naturally, the families were anxious and applauded. Ekrem İmamoğlu's entry into the courtroom is not easy; people are excited. The judge began to explain the procedure. The procedure was not notified to the lawyers beforehand."

Ekrem asked for permission to speak for 3 minutes, but the judge did not allow it. He said, 'No, I am not giving you the right to speak.' At that moment, noise erupted in the courtroom. The judge warned that if this continued, he would clear the courtroom. When the noise continued, the courtroom was cleared. But we are still here.

The situation here is this; the families are largely reactive and prejudiced. You know, there are people appointed for this case. They told us they would try us until the end of April. Well, will it be a fair trial? We wanted these hearings to be broadcast live on TRT. The scene we saw when we came here this morning involves extraordinary measures. What are we to this country? Are we people to be feared in this country? If there is a reaction in the courtroom, it is only to this. There can be no question of any disrespect toward the court panel. Are these people hardened criminals? Why are these extraordinary measures being taken, why? Anyone who reads the indictment has seen everything. As citizens of a state of law, we want a fair and transparent trial."
