Following the appointment of Akın Gürlek to the Ministry of Justice, the vacancy at the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been filled temporarily. It has been reported that Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor Can Tuncay, who is responsible for the Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau, will carry out this critical duty until a new chief public prosecutor is appointed.
According to information obtained from judicial sources, there will be no changes to the current division of duties until a new name is finalized for the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) is expected to publish the decree regarding the new chief public prosecutor in the coming days.
While this transition process at the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office continues, an important handover ceremony will also be held at the Ministry of Justice. According to the information obtained so far, the handover ceremony between former Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç and the new minister Akın Gürlek will take place in Ankara. No official farewell program will be organized for Gürlek at the Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse. Following the ceremony in Ankara, Akın Gürlek will officially begin his new role.
