Another figure has resigned from the MHP due to the new 'opening' process. Halil İbrahim Karaçam, who served as a member of the Provincial General Assembly from the MHP in Aydın between 2008 and 2014, announced that he has resigned from his party.
The new 'opening' process, architected by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey' by the government, gained momentum after a group of PKK terrorists laid down their arms in a symbolic ceremony.
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that they would carry out the process together as the AKP, MHP, and DEM Party.
While debates continue in the public eye regarding the transparency of the process, news of resignations is also coming from the MHP front.
SYMBOLIC FIGURE RESIGNS
Halil İbrahim Karaçam, one of the symbolic figures of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) in the Karacasu district of Aydın, announced his resignation from the party in a statement made on his social media account.
Karaçam stated the following:
"As of 15:37 on Saturday, July 12, I have resigned from my political party membership and duties due to necessity. I will strive to live the rest of my days as a simple idealist (Ülkücü). I tell all my friends with whom I have struggled until today that I love you very much as individuals. Please forgive your rights. Whatever rights I have are yours to keep. With the wish that all our non-political conversations will be eternal, may you be entrusted to God.
I cannot accept my party rejecting motions that are of vital importance for our country. I do not find it right that while they accused the opposition of being a 'curse' and 'humiliation' yesterday, they are together with those they accused today. They are together today with the people they accused yesterday. If they had said 'one day we might be together with the DEM Party,' we would have taken our position accordingly. It goes against my principles."
"THEY EVEN VOTED AGAINST THE MOTION TO INVESTIGATE THE DEATHS OF 12 SOLDIERS"
Referring to the motion submitted regarding the soldiers who were martyred in the Claw-Lock Operation region, Karaçam said, "Our party voted against the motion to establish an investigation commission regarding the poisoning and death of 12 soldiers. I cannot accept this. They have voted against investigation commission motions submitted on many issues to date. We said 'Devlet Bey knows something,' but it was in vain," he expressed.
"I KEPT SILENT FOR THE SAKE OF THE PAST"
Stating that he could return if his party returned to its factory settings, Karaçam said, "My Provincial Chairman Haluk Alıcık is someone I love very much; we have a personal relationship. I kept silent for the sake of the past. I have no problem with individuals, but I made this decision with sadness due to the policies of the headquarters."
