While citizens struggle to make ends meet due to high inflation, exchange rates, and the cost of living, the Presidency budget has doubled.
CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba stated that the Presidential budget will double in 2024 and that daily expenditures will also increase.
"THE PALACE WILL SPEND 23 THOUSAND LIRA PER MINUTE"
According to the report in Sözcü, Ağbaba said, "The Presidential budget, which was 6.6 billion in 2023, is rising to 12.3 billion lira in 2024. The increase rate is 85 percent, and next year the Palace will spend 33.6 million lira per day, 1.4 million per hour, and 23 thousand lira per minute. In other words, the Palace's per-minute expenditure next year will be equal to 2 minimum wages."
Ağbaba reacted with the following words: "In this budget, there is no place for the retiree to whom you give 7,500 lira and condemn to second-hand shoes and third-hand shirts. There is no minimum wage earner living below the 13,684 TL hunger threshold, no contract teachers waiting for tenure. There is no civil servant crushed under inflation, no doctor facing violence. There are no people to whom you promised a 3600 supplementary indicator. So what is there? There are rentiers who will earn interest income. There are contractors and city hospital bosses to whom you will pay 162 billion lira. There is the Diyanet, whose budget is even larger than that of ministries. There are the Presidency's official vehicles and security expenses. There is the budget for trolls, and there are millions of lira transferred to trolls."
