The 'trade with Israel' row between Yeni Şafak columnist İsmail Kılıçarslan and AKP's Nihat Zeybekci escalates

The 'trade with Israel' controversy between İsmail Kılıçarslan, a columnist for the pro-government newspaper Yeni Şafak, and AKP Deputy Chairman Nihat Zeybekci is growing. Zeybekci responded to Kılıçarslan, who had called him 'moronic,' without mentioning him by name. Kılıçarslan, quoting Zeybekci's post, stated, "I accuse you of attempting to legitimize trade with Israel, and I insulted you for this, fully prepared to face all consequences."

AKP Deputy Chairman Nihat Zeybekci defended trade with Israel "We strongly condemn the massacre, fair enough, but on the other hand, Israel is a country with which we have a free trade agreement" with these words.

Yeni Şafak columnist İsmail Kılıçarslan, reacting to Zeybekci's remarks, had said, "Throughout the Gaza process, I have not heard a more foolish, more moronic statement than this. He says 'fair enough' to genocide, for heaven's sake. Shame on you. It's pathetic." he had stated.

ZEYBEKCİ RESPONDS WITHOUT NAMING NAMES

Zeybekci, without naming him, responded to Kılıçarslan's 'moronic' and 'foolish' remarks by saying, "You are as foolish as the person you call foolish, and as moronic as the person you call moronic. Whatever you deem others worthy of, you are at least worthy of that yourself. 'The splendor and glory of the mind is courtesy and grace.' That is all." he had replied.

SWIFT RESPONSE FROM KILIÇARSLAN

Kılıçarslan's response to Zeybekci was not delayed.

"I think you shouldn't beat around the bush. I wrote what I wrote by tagging you, solo, without any hesitation. Moreover, I did this without even calculating what your power might be capable of. That is what stunned you anyway." said Kılıçarslan, adding the following: 

"I accuse you of attempting to legitimize trade with Israel, and I insulted you for this, fully prepared to face all consequences. 

I will continue to defend a world, a mindset, and a Turkey where the children in Gaza are at least as valuable as 'cables'. 

Let me repeat: Because of those words of yours where you said 'fair enough' to genocide, I will hold you accountable both in this world and in the hereafter."
