The truth behind the Imralı silence revealed: AKP uses the IMM case as a cover for meeting with terrorist leader Öcalan
Members of the commission established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) as part of the second 'opening' process, including representatives from the AKP, MHP, and DEM Party, held a meeting with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan at Imralı on Monday. While pro-government media ignored the meeting, it is alleged that the AKP is working to make the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) case more prominent in the public eye.

The 'opening' commission established in the TBMM visited Imralı on Monday and met with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The public is curious about what was discussed during the meeting, which lasted approximately 3 hours. The DEM Party side pointed to the commission and passed the ball to TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. There has been no statement from the AKP or MHP either. Moreover, the contradictory statements regarding Imralı made by Hüseyin Yayman, an AKP member of the commission's Imralı delegation, have also sparked reactions.
The silence on Imralı continues in the media close to the government. The meeting with the terrorist leader was not carried on the front pages. Journalist Hilal Köylü shared inside information she obtained regarding the AKP's cautious approach to the process.
Speaking on her own YouTube channel, Köylü stated, "Did the delegation's visit to Imralı even make the news in any of the newspapers known to be close to the government? It did not. Why are they keeping this low-profile, even though Bahçeli is shouting at the top of his lungs? Why is this not being reported?" She added, "In AKP circles, they are saying, 'Let's not blow this out of proportion, it's a sensitive issue. There is a period for convincing the public of this process.'"
Serkan Alan from Sözcü TV reported the latest developments regarding the second 'opening' process as follows:
"Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş has plans to attend an awards ceremony today, but no announcement has been made that the Parliament Speaker will chair the commission meeting.
There are various claims circulating in the corridors... It is stated that they are currently trying to gauge public reaction. This visit took place, and not even a single photograph was shared.
According to what is being discussed in the corridors, it is alleged that there is an effort to make the IMM indictment more visible. We see that especially AKP figures are making social media posts under the name of the 'İmamoğlu case' instead of the 'IMM case'.
The National Security Council (MGK) will meet at Beştepe today. It is considered a critical meeting regarding the stage reached in a 'Terror-Free Turkey,' and there is an expectation that the individuals who went to Imralı will provide information to the deputies in Parliament afterward."
