Turkey went to the polls today for the March 31 Local Elections.
As of 17:00, all ballot boxes across the country were closed, and the vote-counting process began.
Shortly before the polls closed, survey results regarding Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir were shared on social media.
A statement came from AKP Deputy Chairman Mustafa Şen regarding the polls in question.
Stating that the poll results published shortly before the end of the voting process have no scientific validity or reliability, Şen said, "Elections are festivals of democracy. However, it appears there are malicious people who want to cast a shadow over this festival with certain polls. The polls published today, and especially at these hours, have no scientific validity or reliability. For this reason, it is specifically requested that these polls and publications not be given any credence."
