The world's most powerful passport has changed: Spain takes first place
According to a new report by VisaGuide World, Spain has reached the top spot among countries with the world's most powerful passports. Turkey, as before, remains in 94th place.

According to a new index published on the website “VisaGuide World,” which provides news on global visa information, Spain has now surpassed Singapore to take the top spot among countries with the world's most powerful passports.
According to a report by Euronews, Turkey remains in 94th place on the list of 200 countries, just as it was previously.
The Henley Passport Index, published in October, had placed Singapore in the top spot.
According to the VisaGuide World ranking, the passport of Japan, one of Asia's leading wealthy nations, is ranked 15th among the most powerful, making it the only country outside of Europe to enter the top 20.
According to the latest index, Germany ranked 3rd. Germany was followed by Italy, France, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Czechia, Portugal, Hungary, and Luxembourg. While Austria ranked 16th, Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland, and Poland also secured spots within the top 20.
HOW IS THE TOP RANKING DETERMINED?
Both the “Henley Passport Index,” which is updated quarterly, and the “VisaGuide World Passport Index” examine the number of destinations that passport holders can access without a visa.
VisaGuide World, however, also takes other factors into account to create a "destination significance score" for each travel destination. A country's GDP, global power, and tourism development are evaluated as significant criteria.
