Sinan Ateş's older sister, Selma Ateş Kazanç, and her husband, mother, and sister who were with her, as well as National Path Party (Millî Yol Partisi) Chairman Remzi Çayır, were attacked while chatting during a break in the Sinan Ateş trial.

According to allegations, the attacker, named Mertcan Kılıç, approached Selma Ateş Kazanç from behind, grabbed her by the neck, and pulled her. While Kazanç's husband intervened to protect his wife, Kılıç struck him as well. Furthermore, Kılıç knocked Sinan Ateş's other sister, Sevda Ateş Yörükoğlu, to the ground and began dragging her.

'HE PAID 3 THOUSAND TL FOR THE ATTACK'

According to Halk TV columnist İsmail Saymaz, police who intervened quickly at the scene detained Kılıç, who was subsequently arrested for simple assault against a woman and sent to prison. Meanwhile, Servet Bozkurt and Ümit Özdağ, who were alleged to have incited the attack, were also detained. According to the allegations, these two individuals paid Kılıç 3,000 TL for the attack and recorded the moment of the assault on their phones. It was stated that Kılıç was brought to the prison area for the attack by taxi.

In his statement, Servet Bozkurt claimed that he and Kılıç were from the same neighborhood and that they had come to the prison for a visit that day. He asserted that he had only given money to Kılıç as a loan and that he absolutely had no intention of inciting an attack. Özdağ explained that they had come to the scene under the pretext of depositing money at the prison and had left the area quickly after the incident. Both were released with a travel ban and a house arrest order.
